Wardrobe accessories checklist: all 24 with prices
Start with the must-haves that almost every wardrobe uses, then add recommended fittings most wardrobes benefit from. Nice to have depends on your space and budget. Prices are for the hardware only, not the carcass, shutters or fitting charges. Wardrobe accessories are also called wardrobe fittings, wardrobe internal fittings or almirah accessories.

Ranges with a product link are our own listed prices (October 2026) and show the lowest-priced size and finish up to the highest. Items 18 and 19 use the same ranges as our modular kitchen accessories list. Item 24 is priced from public listings in India, see the sources at the bottom of the page.
How much will your wardrobe’s internal fittings cost?
Pick your wardrobe size, brand and how much you want to fit. The planner counts how many of each fitting a typical wardrobe of that size uses and adds up the cost. It covers interior fittings only (not hinges, handles or lights, which don’t depend on the brand). It is a starting estimate, not a quote. Your carpenter’s drawing decides the final count.
Wardrobe fittings budget planner
| Fitting | Qty | Price each (from) | Cost |
|---|
Prices are the starting price of each fitting (lowest-priced size and finish), October 2026. Hettich has no jewellery box in our range, so that line uses the Root Germany price in both brands. A corner unit is left out because only L-shaped layouts need one (item 15). Counts are typical, not fixed.
1. Hanging space: lifts and pull-outs (items 1–2)
Hanging space is the first thing to plan, because it decides how much room is left for racks and baskets. Tall wardrobes often have a loft or a high rod that nobody can reach, which is where a lift earns its price. Most guides put a single hanging rod at about 66 inches (1,680 mm) from the floor, according to Bob Vila’s closet rod guide, so anything above that is a good place for a lift.

01 Pull-down wardrobe lift (wardrobe lifter)
A mechanism that brings a high hanging rod down to your reach. Pull the handle and the rod swings down. Push it back and it returns gently. Use it in the loft or top section, where clothes you wear a few times a year usually end up. The Root Germany lifter adjusts from 830 to 1,150 mm wide. The Hettich pull-down hanger comes in 600 and 900 mm. The Root Germany premium hanger adds soft open as well as soft close.
₹3,128 – ₹4,462
Root Germany wardrobe lift →Hettich pull-down hanger →Premium soft open + close →

02 Hanger pull-out (top-hanging)
A hanging rail that slides forward, so you see every hanger at once instead of pushing clothes aside to reach the back. It suits a section where shirts and kurtas hang side by side. Hettich’s version is 500 mm wide.
₹3,388 – ₹3,717
Hettich top-hanging pull-out →Root Germany hanger pull-out →
2. Trouser, pant, tie and belt racks (items 3–6)
Trousers hung on hangers take up rod space and slip off. Folded trousers on a shelf get creased and buried. A pull-out rack fixes both problems, and it is usually the first fitting people buy after the hanging rod.

03 Pull-out trouser rack
Each pair of trousers hangs flat over its own bar, so it stays crease-free, and you can see every pair the moment you slide the rack out. The Hettich rack has an aluminium alloy frame with concealed soft-closing runners and measures 564 × 465 × 76 mm in the 600 mm size. The Root Germany rack has leather-wrapped bars, and the catalogue unit shows nine of them. Both come in 600 and 900 mm.
₹5,549 – ₹7,963

04 Top-mounted pant rack (2 row)
A two-row pants rack that mounts from the top of the section and slides out. It is an option when one trouser rack does not hold enough, or when you would rather keep the lower part of the wardrobe free for baskets. Hettich’s is 700 mm wide. Root Germany makes a single-row (₹4,592) and a two-row version (₹4,949).
₹4,592 – ₹5,478
Hettich 2-row pants rack →Root Germany 2-row pant rack →Root Germany single-row →

05 Lateral (side-mounted) pant rack
A side-mounted pull-out rack for pants. Hettich’s lateral rack is made for a 500 mm section, so it fits where a full 600 mm trouser rack will not. Root Germany’s lateral pant rack is also side-mounted.
₹3,975 – ₹4,335

06 Tie and belt rack
A shallow pull-out for ties, belts and scarves. It is the lowest-priced fitting in our wardrobe range, and it clears a drawer that would otherwise hold a tangle. A good first upgrade if the budget is tight.
₹1,359 – ₹1,538
3. Wardrobe baskets and drawer organisers (items 7–11)
Folded clothes need drawers or baskets that pull all the way out, so nothing disappears at the back. These fittings are also what most people mean when they search for a wardrobe organiser. Check the width: most are made for 600 and 900 mm sections.

07 Rattan basket
An open-weave basket on runners for folded T-shirts, innerwear and linen. It is the all-round choice for most wardrobes. Hettich calls its version the Rattan Lite basket. Both come in 600 and 900 mm.
₹8,197 – ₹10,157

08 Leather storage basket
The same job as a rattan basket with a leather finish, for a more premium look. It costs more, so many people fit one or two leather baskets in the most visible section and use rattan elsewhere.
₹9,670 – ₹12,001

09 Glass basket
A glass-finish drawer from Root Germany’s Mocha range, in 600 and 900 mm. Choose it when you want the drawer to match the glass and leather details in the rest of a walk-in closet.
₹8,307 – ₹8,762

10 3-layer side-mounted basket
Three stacked baskets fixed to the side panel, for small items like socks and handkerchiefs in a narrow section.
₹9,381

11 Leather drawer organiser
Closed leather drawers for the neatest look. Root Germany makes a single drawer (₹5,522) and a triple-layer drawer (₹12,390). Hettich’s leather classification box is a divided box for sorting smaller folded items, in 600 and 900 mm.
₹5,522 – ₹13,090
Root Germany single drawer →Triple-layer drawer →Hettich classification box →
Send us a photo and the inside width, depth and height of each section. We’ll tell you which sizes fit and what to skip before you order.
4. Shoe racks, ironing board and corner units (items 12–15)
These fittings use the most floor height and depth, so they are the ones to plan with your carpenter before the boards are cut.

12 Pull-out shoe rack (shoe rack for wardrobe)
Puts your shoes inside the wardrobe on a pull-out board, so every pair is visible and nothing gets scuffed at the bottom. Hettich’s board-type rack is 175 mm high and 465 mm deep, in 600 and 900 mm. Root Germany’s pull-out shoe rack also comes in 600 and 900 mm.
₹8,096 – ₹11,152

13 Revolving shoe rack
A rotating tower of shoe tiers. Hettich’s comes in 4-tier and 12-tier versions, Root Germany’s in 8 and 12 layers. It needs a tall, deep section, so it suits a walk-in or a full-height unit rather than a small wardrobe. Hettich’s is the lower-priced of the two.
₹16,906 – ₹27,712
Hettich revolving shoe rack →Root Germany revolving shoe rack →

14 Pull-out ironing board
An ironing board stored inside a 400 mm section, so it comes out when you need it and disappears when you don’t. Hettich’s revolves. Root Germany’s is a soft-close, rotating pull-out. The two cost almost the same.
₹6,042 – ₹6,052

15 Rotating corner unit
The dead corner of an L-shaped wardrobe is hard to reach. A 3-tier rotating unit turns it into usable storage. It is only worth buying if your layout has a corner. Plan it with the carpenter’s drawing.
₹16,284
5. Jewellery boxes and safe drawers (items 16–17)
Jewellery and watches are the small items that cause the most clutter, and the ones you least want to leave loose.

16 Jewellery box and small-accessories pull-out
Start with the small accessories pull-out (₹1,512) if you only need a place for watches and loose items. The adjustable retractable jewellery box fits 600 to 900 mm sections (₹6,847). The full jewellery box and the leather jewellery box come in 600 and 900 mm.
₹1,512 – ₹9,800
Small accessories pull-out →Retractable jewellery box →Jewellery box →Leather jewellery box →

17 Safe drawer and jewellery locker
A drawer you can lock, for jewellery and papers. Root Germany makes a single leather drawer with a password (₹23,895) and a large 860 mm leather drawer with a password (₹35,046). The Ozone jewellery drawer safe adds Wi-Fi and fingerprint access and starts at ₹19,824. For a freestanding locker, see our safes and lockers.
₹19,824 – ₹35,046
Root Germany password drawer →Large 860 mm drawer →Ozone jewellery drawer safe →
6. Doors, drawer channels, handles and finishing touches (items 18–24)
Small parts, but you use them dozens of times a day. A tall wardrobe door is heavy, so cheap hinges are the first thing to sag.

18 Soft-close hinges (wardrobe hinges)
Also called auto hinges. They close the door gently and stop it banging. A full-height wardrobe door needs more hinges than a kitchen shutter, so ask your carpenter for the count and add a spare. Choose full, half or no overlay to match how the door sits on the side panel. 3D hinges are easier to align. Our Hettich hinge price guide and Hafele hinge price guide compare the options, and door hinges in India explains the types.
₹180 – ₹1,349 check pack size on each listing

19 Soft-close drawer channels
If your wardrobe has built-in drawers, each one needs a pair of channels. Soft-close channels stop slamming. Normal-close channels start at ₹175 but bang shut. For deeper drawers, a tandem box gives metal sides and soft-close runners in one set. We explain the difference in tandem box vs drawer basket, and the types and sizes in drawer slides online.
₹400 – ₹875 per pair soft-close

20 Wardrobe handles: Knoble Bluebell

Every door and drawer needs a pull, and you open a wardrobe dozens of times a day, so the grip matters as much as the look. The Bluebell brass handle takes its cue from the turned brass on old teak almirahs. A carved collar in the middle gives your hand a natural place to rest, and the solid brass has real weight. It comes in antique, black and brush gold, in 5, 7 and 14 inches. Use the 14-inch on tall wardrobe doors and the 5 or 7-inch on drawers.
Prefer something plainer? The Massimo is a slim bar from ₹720, the Elio a grooved brass bar from ₹1,090, and the Amazon Stick a wooden bar from ₹870. Count your doors and drawers, then add one spare.
Bluebell ₹1,000 – ₹2,750 · all handles from ₹720

21 Wardrobe knobs: Knoble Peony

Knobs suit small doors, drawers and the lower drawers of a dressing unit. Mixing knobs on the drawers with long bar handles on the tall doors is a common designer move. The Peony knob is solid brass with a softly curved profile and a broad, sculpted face, so it is comfortable to grip and has real weight in the hand. The 4-inch knob comes in antique and black (₹800) and PVD French gold (₹1,050). Pair antique Peony knobs with antique Bluebell handles for a matched set.
On a tighter budget, the Kawachi T-bar is brass from ₹450, and the Poppy (₹130) and Honey Stick (₹150) are wooden knobs.
Peony ₹800 – ₹1,050 · all knobs from ₹130

22 Concealed handles for sliding wardrobes

On a sliding wardrobe, a handle that sticks out can catch the neighbouring door. A concealed handle (also called a recessed or flush handle) sits inside the door, so nothing projects. The Arabesque has an antique brass finish in 96, 160 and 224 mm, from ₹430. The Alcove recessed handle starts at ₹440 and the Harbour concealed handle at ₹570, both made for wardrobes. For a warm wooden look like the one pictured, see the Amazon Sleek wooden concealed handle (from ₹1,065).
₹430 – ₹1,560 per piece

23 Wardrobe lock (fingerprint or PIN)
Keys get lost, and a fingerprint or PIN wardrobe lock does away with them. We stock Yale wardrobe locks for both door types. For openable doors, the Yale FP-OP-F fingerprint wardrobe lock is ₹6,499. For sliding doors, the Yale FP-SL-H sliding almirah lock with handle is ₹6,999. For drawers and cupboards, the Yale Mesh PIN lock (₹2,099) and the YLDRPSL sliding fingerprint lock (₹2,999) cost much less. Check the lock matches your door type and thickness before you order, or send us a photo on WhatsApp. For valuables, pair it with a safe drawer from item 17.
₹2,099 – ₹6,999 Yale, October 2026
24 LED strip light
A light inside the wardrobe makes dark corners usable and shows you the back of every shelf. An LED strip in an aluminium channel, optionally switched by a door sensor so it comes on when you open the door, is the usual choice. You also need a driver (adapter) for each run. We don’t sell lights, so check the channel and strip are compatible before you buy.

about ₹170 – ₹300 per metre strip + channel
Send us your carpenter’s drawing. We’ll list every fitting, hinge and handle it needs, with sizes and one combined price.
Accessories for a small wardrobe
In a small wardrobe, every section has to do more. Spend on fittings that pull out fully, so the back of each section is usable.
Prioritise
- A tie and belt rack (from ₹1,359), the cheapest fitting that clears a drawer
- A lateral pant rack if the section is only 500 mm wide
- A pull-down lift if you have a loft you can’t reach
- One rattan basket for folded clothes
Skip or delay
- The revolving shoe rack and the corner unit, which need a lot of depth and height
- Safe drawers and leather drawers, which cost more than the rest of the interior combined
Sliding wardrobe or hinged wardrobe: which accessories change?
With hinged doors, an open door gives you the full width of the section, so any pull-out in the range works. With sliding doors, only part of the width is open at a time, so check that a rack or basket can slide out through the opening, and prefer 500–600 mm sections. Sliding doors also suit concealed handles, because nothing projects into the track.
Root Germany or Hettich: where the prices differ
We stock two wardrobe interior ranges. Hettich comes in Grey and Mocha. Root Germany comes in Mocha, with leather and glass details, and includes a few fittings Hettich does not (jewellery boxes, a glass basket, a corner unit and password drawers). On like-for-like items the prices are close, with the odd exception. The table shows the lowest-priced size and finish of each.
| Fitting | Root Germany from | Hettich from | Lower price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pull-out trouser rack | ₹5,549 | ₹6,166 | Root Germany |
| Lateral pant rack | ₹3,975 | ₹4,193 | Root Germany |
| Two-row pant rack | ₹4,949 | ₹5,337 | Root Germany |
| Tie and belt rack | ₹1,359 | ₹1,415 | Root Germany |
| Pull-down wardrobe lift | ₹3,128 | ₹3,695 | Root Germany |
| Top-hanging pull-out | ₹3,717 | ₹3,388 | Hettich |
| Rattan basket | ₹8,797 | ₹8,197 | Hettich |
| Leather storage basket | ₹11,151 | ₹9,670 | Hettich |
| Pull-out shoe rack | ₹8,226 | ₹8,096 | Hettich |
| Pull-out ironing board | ₹6,052 | ₹6,042 | Hettich |
The revolving shoe rack is left out of this table because the two are not like-for-like (Hettich 4 and 12 tier from ₹16,906, Root Germany 8 and 12 layers from ₹25,311). Read more about the brand in our guide to buying Hettich hardware online in India, or browse the Hettich and Root Germany ranges.
Worth paying more for
- Hinges on tall doors you open many times a day
- Runners and channels under heavy baskets (compare Hafele vs Hettich drawer slides)
- The pull-down lift, because it moves a full rod of clothes
Fine to save on
- Tie and belt racks and small-accessories pull-outs
- Handles and knobs, where the finish matters more than the brand
- The LED strip

How to measure before you order
- Measure the inside width of each section, side panel to side panel, in mm. Most pull-outs in our range are made for 600 and 900 mm. Some are 500 or 700 mm, and the Root Germany lift and retractable jewellery box adjust (830–1,150 mm and 600–900 mm).
- Measure the inside depth. Hettich’s trouser and shoe racks are 465 mm deep, so check there is room. A standard wardrobe is about 2 feet (600 mm) deep, according to Asian Paints Beautiful Homes.
- Measure the free height of each section. A Hettich trouser rack is 76 mm high and a Hettich shoe rack is 175 mm high.
- Choose a finish so the whole interior matches. Hettich comes in Grey and Mocha, Root Germany in Mocha.
- Count doors and drawers for hinges, channels and handles, and add one or two spares.
- Send us the list on WhatsApp before your carpenter cuts the boards. It is much cheaper to change a drawing than a wardrobe.
Frequently asked questions
What are wardrobe accessories?
Wardrobe accessories, also called wardrobe fittings, wardrobe internal fittings or almirah accessories, are the pull-outs, racks, baskets, lifts and drawers fitted inside a wardrobe to organise clothes, shoes and valuables. Hinges, drawer channels, handles and locks are separate parts of the wardrobe hardware.
What accessories do I need inside a new wardrobe?
Most wardrobes need eight must-haves: soft-close hinges, handles, soft-close drawer channels if the wardrobe has drawers, a pull-out trouser rack, a pull-out shoe rack, a tie and belt rack, a basket for folded clothes and a pull-down lift for the high rod. Add a jewellery box if you keep jewellery in the wardrobe, and a corner unit only if your layout has a corner.
What is the price of wardrobe accessories in India?
On That Hardware Store, wardrobe interior fittings range from ₹1,359 for a tie and belt rack to ₹35,046 for a large password safe drawer. The five interior must-haves cost about ₹27,000 for a 2-door wardrobe, ₹35,800 for a 3-door wardrobe and ₹61,500 or more for a walk-in. This is for hardware only and does not include the wardrobe itself, hinges, handles or fitting charges.
Which is better, Root Germany or Hettich wardrobe accessories?
Both are genuine German brands, and their prices are close on like-for-like items. Root Germany is cheaper on trouser racks, pant racks, tie racks and pull-down lifts. Hettich is cheaper on baskets, top-hanging pull-outs and revolving shoe racks. Choose by finish and range: Hettich comes in Grey and Mocha, Root Germany in Mocha with leather and glass details and a few extra fittings.
Which wardrobe accessories suit a small wardrobe?
Choose fittings that pull out fully: a tie and belt rack, a lateral pant rack for a 500 mm section, a pull-down lift if the top section is hard to reach, and one basket. Skip a revolving shoe rack and a corner unit, which need a lot of space.
Do sliding wardrobes need different accessories?
The pull-outs are the same, but only part of a sliding wardrobe opens at a time, so check that each rack or basket can slide out through the opening. Concealed (recessed) handles suit sliding doors because nothing sticks out into the track.
Should I buy 600 mm or 900 mm?
Buy the size that matches the inside width of the wardrobe section, measured between the side panels. Most pull-outs come in 600 and 900 mm. If you are unsure, send us your measurements on WhatsApp and we will help you pick.
Can I add accessories to an existing wardrobe?
Yes, most of them, if the inside width, depth and height of the section match the fitting. Racks, baskets, tie racks and lifts can usually be added to an existing wardrobe. A corner unit and revolving shoe rack are harder to add later, so send us your sizes and we’ll check.
Which handles are best for a wardrobe?
Long bar handles suit tall wardrobe doors and wide drawers. Knobs suit small doors and drawers. Concealed handles suit sliding doors. Knoble’s Bluebell brass handle, Peony brass knob and Arabesque concealed handle cover all three.
Do you have a fingerprint or PIN lock for a wardrobe?
Yes. Our Smart Locks collection includes Yale fingerprint and PIN wardrobe locks for openable and sliding doors, from ₹2,099 to ₹6,999. For jewellery and papers, a safe drawer or a freestanding locker is more secure.
Is there a wardrobe accessories list PDF?
Yes. Set your wardrobe size, brand and fitting level in the planner on this page, then tap “Print / save as PDF”. Your browser saves the list with item counts and prices as a PDF you can share with your carpenter.
